they are starting to get bored and fast. Other schools are in I cannot afford to send them to any of the school out program and I have to work most of the days they are out of school. What can I do to keep them occupied while I am at work and they are out of school. My kids are ages 9, 8, and 2. I try buying toys and items at the dollar tree so they'll have a craft to work on while I am away. I now need other suggestions. Help.

take them to the library, they usually have different types of activities available. go online and see what sort of free activities your city is having. find out if your church has an after-school program. have a sleep over with thier friends on the weekend. maybe if you have a weekend off you could find a nice place to go camping, maybe they could camp out in the backyard. rent a few movies, or take them to the movies.

Try to network with other parents from your kids' school. I'm willing to bet that others are in the same situation and would jump at the chance to organize some group activities. Think of it as The Break Club. It can be a trip to the library or an afternoon at the park. Not all parents have to accompany the kids, but rotate it to accommodate work schedules. Good luck!

Are they home alone or do they have supervision?
Can someone take them to the park?
.....or the playground at their school?
Can someone take them to the library?
Let them build tents with sheets and blankets and chairs.
Let them take all the pillows in the house to build a fort.
Bake with them.
Take them to pick out Halloween costumes and then let them play dress up with them.
Michaels has some cheap crafts for kids that mine have done over their fall break. (also in year round)

First time my daughter was on summer break from school I cured her boredom...I put a dust rag in her hand and told her to get to work. Funny thing is that for the rest of the summer she didn't come to me complaining she was bored. She used her IMAGINATION and came up with ways to entertain herself.

Its still nice enough, let them play outside. Maybe you can see if other parents from their class are having the same problem and organize a day where they can all go play somewhere.

Do the children have adult supervision? Do they have transportation? The library is always a good value for what it cost.
