Below are two lists of hotels for you that would meet your criteria. The first list of hotels is in the midst of a lot of the sites of Rome. The Vatican is about 1.5 mi. away. The second list of hotels are closer to the Vatican. If you're planning to focus a lot of time at the Vatican, then I'd recommend a hotel from the 2nd list. If you're spending time in Rome to see a lot of sights, then choose from the first list. All of these hotels are 4-5 star hotels so you can't really go wrong with any you pick.

Also, if you're condering any of those from the 1st list then make sure you book with a TA that's affiliated w/ Virtuoso. They can offer you a lot of extras and a nice discount on the rate compared to the published rate. If you'd like to discuss, please feel free to email me at gas_stlmo@yahoo.com.

Hi,,, check out Hotels.com they will have all you need to know and you can pick out which one easy ....

PS: be very aware of the Pickpockets and purse snatchers in Rome !!!! and any large cities there,,,, cameras also,,, They are very good at their trade,,,

Also, the Systine Chapel, is only open certain days, go to see the Vatican one day and the Chapel the next, go very early because the line are very long and it is open just so long,, it takes 4 hours from the beginning until you get to the chapel itself.. wear comfortable shoes..

good luck
