Im talking about the brands, Some tmes you see sales like 50 for 9.99 and then many are 50 for 29.95. Is there any real difference between them quality wise.

Well-known brands, like SONY, have a good reputation, however, you can get a "lemon" at any time.
I had a problem with a particular brand (which shall remain nameless) and bought a lesser-known brand which worked just as well. In other words, it's a "crap shoot."

Yes there is a difference. Some brands will not work in all burners. I would recommend Verbatim, they are fairly inexpensive but are actually very high quality. There is a quality difference between good ones and bad ones.
