I had 2 margaritas and one wine cooler last night between 6-8 pm. I take a medicine that says to not drink alcoholic beverages while I'm on it, and I didn't take it last night. I am approx. 5'1", approx. 190 pounds, and I am a female. Would it be safe to say that the alcohol is out of my system so that I could take the medication?

The medication is 500 mg of Metformin, I take it once daily, although I was scared to take it last night. I read that it causes something called lactic acidosis. Would it be safe to take it?

Yes I believe it to be safe now.

Good job in checking/asking, that's smart!

Alcohol stays in your system for at least 12 hours. You may not be drunk or buzzed but it's still in your system.

Medications usually stay in your system for a while also.

I hope it wasn't something that you're suppose to be taking regularly.
