I agree with you... Most snacks are Unhealthy. I do unrefined brown sugars with some foods, dark chocolate (72% coco or higher), I sweeten foods with fruits... blueberrys, strawberrys on cerial ect), I snack on certian cerials that are sweeted with unrefined sugars or honey. Organic jams on whole wheat, bread or crackers. Not much to choice from if your really trying to avoid the garbage foods, I also do Tostito baked corn chips (only ingredince, Corn & Salt) with hummas dips.

What I see here is many people with different opinons of what "Healthy means to Them". There are many things that aren't good for you at all in any amounts. Read the labels...
High Frucose Corn Surup, Hyrodenated Fat/Oil, these 2 items eliminate about 95% of the snack type foods on the self.

Also Trans Fats... one of the worst things for you. Definately not healthy. You might say..." there are lots of foods with 0% trans fats... it says it right on the label".

Here's the skinny on that, The FDA label requirements for Trans Fats States...." If the amount of Trans Fats per SERVING is less than .5 grams they are allowed to list it as Zero". Packaged meals can list 0% if under 2.2 grams.

Here's what the snack companies have done. They lowered their serving sizes so they can report 0% on their labels. Some kinds of chips have a severing size of 7 chips! Who's going to eat only 7 chips .... lol.

To truely be healthy requires a lot of homework.

All snacks are not unhealthy, and actually nowadays, you can't get out of a grocery store without finding many healthy, new snacks to try. Just remember the key is "everything in moderation," don't try to curb a craving if you need a pick me up try, cottage cheese with pineapple, yogurt or frozen yogurt, raisins, or a fruit juice pop, they're delicious. Good luck to you, on the road to healthier eating.

Here are some healthy snacks that you can think of adding to your list:1) Yoghurt is low fat and high in calcium 2) Beef jerky contains quite a bit of sodium but is a great source of protein 3) Popcorn as long as you pick the low fat kind is a good source for roughage 4) Pickles have no nutrition but good for roughage 5) Flavored rice cakes are low fat, good carb source 6) Oatmeal or cereal 7) Garbanzo beans - just rinse them after draining from a can, heat up in the microwave.

I have been dieting for some time and not all snacks are unhealthy, it's just the portions in which you eat them. Try eating smaller portions of high fat/sugar foods and more veggies than anything else. I've lost 7lbs since I started a week ago!

Hope this helps!

How about granola bars, oatmeal cookies with raisins, yogurt, peanut butter & crackers, chex mix or unsalted pretsles with cream cheese?

Fill up the hollow side of a celery stick with peanut butter.

Maybe a slice of toast with jam?
