"Reduced firepower capabilities" of the Chinook?
In my 30+ years of association with the Army, I've never seen a Chinook with "firepower". It's a cargo chopper, not a gunship!

Precisely to minimize any losses on the part of the CH-47s and its passengers and cargo. The CH-47 has minimal armor and not much in the way of weaponry (actually all transport and utility choppers like the UH-1 Huey and the UH-60 Blackhawk suffer from this), so these units need to be protected with appropriate supporting forces (tanks, APCs, AH-64 Apaches, aircraft; ala combined arms ops).

All lz/pzs are secured for every military helicopter. Due to their vulnerability from ground fire.

A Ch 47 is a bus with rotors. Any moron with a RPG or MG can hit it. They are big noisy & slow. Thus you clean out the bad guys before landing one.

You answered your own question. Read what you wrote again. Seriously. And look up Pathfinder Operations while you're at it. That's FM 3-21.38.
