can you buy an ultralite and put on a bigger engine-of course NOT legally! but do they keep close tabs on new or USED ultralites?

it gets worse my partner and I are talkin about a JUNK YARD subaru WRX turbo motor on a gryo copter kit-lol

I think you are ON YOUR OWN when you get into ultra-light flying. I would recommend that you stick to the engine the aircraft was designed for. Ultra-lights are fragil as it is and a larger engine would put loads of stress on the airframe. I would be VERY careful. Pops

airplanes of any size are very unforgiving in the area of design and flight. Unless you are an aircraft engineer in design, forget it. Besides, there are federal laws on powering ultralights, and yes, the feds do check aircraft just when you don't want them to.
