Nope - I heard that they're only called French Fries because that's the term of how the potato is cut (you french the fries) to make them. :) No ties to France whatsoever, that I'm aware of. :)

I sure that if you want you could, but why the heck if you can get them in your nearest supper market. we just use the name for the style to make the potatoes that was invented to please Marie Antoinette, once upon a time in France...
