Im starting to look for halloween costumes for my son who Just turned three, But cant seem to find much, He wont wear anything that has to be on his head, nothing even remotely scary, also if its even slightly heavy weight he'll instantly want it off... any suggestions? or maybe homemade costumes?

Find a very large clear plastic bag, poke his legs thru, leave connected between his legs. Fill it with various color balloons, secure it under his chin, with arms out, and you become a walking gumball machine. I have seen it done, it is very cute, and by pushing the balloons/gumballs aside he can function setting down.

My son was the same way. Homemade is the way to go. If it resembles "normal" clothing, he may be more inclined to wear it.

Buy him a fleece set with Spider-man...Batman...Superman...or Power Ranger on it. Use a little of the face pencils (kits at halloween usually run under $5) to add to the "theme" (i.e., a spider on his cheek for Spidey...or a bat for Batman.)

It's possible you can make a cape with some remnant material and satin braided-rope...if you think he'll wear it.
We did just that during preschool .
Good luck & Have fun.

Pick a costume with his favorite character/toy. Example: Spongebob, Diego from Dora the Explorer. Maybe that would make him more agreeable on wearing something on his head. Also, more than likely, his favorite character/toy is not scary, so maybe he would be more willing to wear something like that.

The no head thing is trickey. Are you sure? My daughter hates hats and hoods, but once she saw herself in her costume, she loved it!

You can make a lion costume with a mane around his neck. Or think cowboy or football player, something real life. Clowns don't need hats either.

I made my kids the cutest M and M costumes one year they are super easy and they can be taken off in a flash! all you need is Black sweats to wear under, elastic straps for the shoulders and then make to Round pillows with M&M on them in any color and stuff them, attatch the straps and put ot over ! easy! and so cute! My friends did it too and we made the adults the M&M bags peanut and plain! so awsome everyone was amazed!
Oh I forgot White gloves and tennis shoes it looks cute but my kids ony kept the gloves on while they were cold!

How about an Army guy wearing a camouflage outfit? You could probably find some little kid camouflage stuff on eBay.
