As an ultralite pilot of many years without a mishap let me say this. You need maturity and a lot of common sense to fly one. But there is nothing like being at angels 5 and looking down through your legs and seeing nothing but the ground. This is as close to man flying unaided as you can get - powered, that is.

If you are not a license pilot and have never flown this type before, find a local field where they do. Get some lessons and try several models. Go to www.eaa.org. Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect.

Mix ignorance with arrogance at low altitude and the results are almost guaranteed to be spectacular.

Minimum requirement is still proper training in an ultralight.

Make sure to look at how many people die each year in ultralight crashes. Did you know John Kennedy had just gotten his leg out of a cast from an ultralight crash the night he crashed his Malibu and died? Makes you think doesn't it..

Actually, very little. They are considered a foot launched vehicle.
Call your local airport.
