Yes and more if you are only consuming 1,000 calories a day. That's not much. Make sure you take a multivitamin, mineral daily.

Yes you can but you really should be eating at the very least LEAST 1000 calories. Under 1000 is too little food and you will just exhaust your body from lack of energy. Make sure you're eating a healthy amount of calories. Based on your height, I'd eat at least 1200 calories. Three meals a day, 2 snacks. Apples, oranges, melon, and grapes are all good fruits to have (in moderation). Keep away from too many starches and carbs and eat a good sized salad with about 2 tablespoons of dressing at lunch. Make sure you get enough protein as well. Don't drink any juices or soda, only water. Eight to ten 8oz glasses a day--especially if you're running that much per day, hydration is important. Your meals should all be pretty petite--enough to feel satisfied.

Eat breakfast within an hour of waking up, this jump starts your metabolism for the rest of the day. I have vegan cheese, vegan canadian bacon, and 1/2 a whole grain English muffin for breakfast with some egg. Eat your second snack 45 minutes before you go to sleep.

Good snack ideas are carrots and celery, whole wheat crackers and a small amount of nonfat yogurt, etc.
Good luck.
