Why take the time when you can put the blame on something else, it is always easier to see faults in others because you can see them, You don't look at your self. If people hands you that line again let them know that anti-depressants are not instant acting drugs, they take 6 weeks to start working, and they don't wear off in a matter of hours. So their main problem is not investigating the "drugs" they are taking and "thinking" they have an instant solution.

This was the answer to your question that you removed:
I haven't read your questions, but if your friends think you should see a psychiatrist and you are wondering enough to post this question, perhaps you should look into it. I would actually suggest you see a psychologist, the difference being a psychologist is there to listen and help you talk out/work through your issues. A psychiatrist doesn't do much other than analyze what the psychologist says and prescribe meds.
Good luck!

There was no reason for asking that. People sometimes do jump to conclusions about what is wrong with them, that's why people don't self diagnose themselves. Depression is a problem with chemicals in your head, it is not simply being sad. Anti-Depressants help people with chemical imbalances balance the chemicals in their heads. That is the reason people take them, it is to fix a problem in their brains.
I will give you the fact that some people take Anti-Depressant wrongly, and some doctors prescribe them loosely. However sometimes, and usually, they are necessary. Hypothetically, if I took anti-depressants I would be very insulted by that question, so I would reconsider asking questions like that in the future.

I feel the same way, and I think one of the most influensal contributors are these stupid "Self-Help" books. First of all, if it was SELF-help, you wouldn't need help. You got help from a book, so thats not Self-Help, that's just "Help". Also, these books tell people to share their emotions and get a phyciatrist, or a counsellor. Being a counsellor would be awesome. You get to listen to ther people's misery, get to lie about them to the victims AND you get benefits like medical, and you always have something to talk about over dinner.
In conclusion, these people piss me off.

you shouldn't say things like that to the public. People who take anti-depressants might get offended, yes I take them but I am not offended. I just think that you have nothing better to do than sit on the computer and make fun of others. Please keep you're rude comments to yourself in the future.

Because we have become or perhaps have always been a "somatically numb (dumb?)" species. We are nearly deviod of any reasonable levels of compassion, our sensibilities cry out for real remediation via refection & introspection, and our ability to empathize is fast becoming simple exercises in "lip service." Does that 'spell' it out clearly enough for ya? WE SUCK, get it?
