Oh, Henry! was not named for the famous author William Sydney Porter, who wrote under the pen name O. Henry.

The candy bar was introduced in 1920 by the Williamson Candy Co. Williamson had a combination retail-wholesale candy store he worked out of, and there was a young man named Henry who would come in the store every day to flirt with the young ladies who worked there. The girls would frequently ask Henry to do little odd jobs for them around the store so that it was common to hear them call, "Oh, Henry, would you do this? Oh, Henry, would you do that?" Williamson invented the new confection and com mented that all one could hear around the store was "Oh, Henry!" So that's what he called it.
