Well in these situations, the physician merely gives the patient the tools to end their own lives-pills they can take, switches they can flip for lethal injection, etc. The physician doesn't end the life themselves.
If you are talking about turning off life support on a brain damaged individual, than a point you may want to bring up is does that physican have the right to keep a braindead person alive even though that may have been against their wishes.

I think that it should be up the the individual who is having their life ended. But if they can't make that decision - due to being in a coma etc, then I think that doctors have the right not to prolong life uneccessarily - if the patient can't survive without medical help - breathing machine etc, then I think doctors should be able to turn it off. This dillemma is why I have a living will - if my life can only be prolonged through the use of a machine to keep me breathing, then I would like to be allowed to die - This isn't the same as the doctor being allowed to kill me. If you are talking about abortion, then I believe that with the mother's consent a physician may perform an abortion.

The patient should have a living will to decide that and then the closest family member or spouse should decide.

I don't think the physicians should make that choice because people are sue happy and something like that would lead to a major lawsuit. The physician may have the education and know the most logical choice it doens't mean they know the person.

Sorry- can't help you out here. I believe God gives life and He takes life. It's not for us to decide or interfere. We wouldn't have the debate over taking out feeding tubes or turning off ventilators if we would just let nature take it's natural course. That's the way it works for the rest of Gods creatures- ever seen a dog being kept alive on a ventilator or a cat on a feeding tube?

i really do not think they should have the right to end life myself...maybe if the person had it wrote that they did not want to live in a certain way...i know i want to die like i am and i do not want surgery or chemo....so i do not know if us humans really have the right to take life, at all....

I FEEL YES!!! IF I WERE IN A TERMINAL STATE, I WOULD WANT MY LIFE ENDED. IF I CANNOT FUNCTION AS A VIABLE ACTIVE HUMAN BEING, I WOULD WANT TO END EVERYTHING. YOU WOULD DO THE SAME THING, I HOPE, IF YOU HAD A PET WHO WAS SUFFERING. *(SEE BELOW)
