I am a growing Christ following Christian. When my kids tell me they are doubting, I tell them what I was told: I'd worry if you NEVER questioned it. It makes you grow and investigate and get proof, etc. Find a mentor, talk to a different youth leader or even the pastor until you find your answers. It's all part of growing as a Christian. Just find someone wise that you can ask questions to. Also....Satan likes to put doubts in us, too.

The only true evil in the world is action taken on Blind Faith.
You can always question your information, because that will make you stronger and more sure in the end of what you should do.
I'm an atheist, and I could give you lots of book suggestions to help you question and find answers, but that isn't what is important. What is important is that you learn to question and judge the answers you receive in your own way so that you can be satisfied with your reasons for creating a future.
My mom has always been faithful, and is now converted to Catholicism. She still enjoys reading the weird things I give her to read because it helps her understand her own faith. The Bible is helpful to many people, but it isn't the only place to find answers to right and wrong. You may find answers to questions that people have been trying to solve for millennia. Don't be afraid to look. If anyone tells you NOT to question things, they are trying to either sell you something or control your thoughts.
Oh, I forgot. The 'recognize' term applies to different interpretations. The sect that Jesus and James were in had some strange, strict rules about who was allowed in, based upon their adherence to rites and such. If someone didn't eat the right foods or follow the right prayers, they were not 'recognized' until they paid a pennance of time to get cleansed and then had to be brought back into the group by an endorsement from an elder. Something like that. (one explanation, anyway.)

Most pupils who've labored at the historicity of Jesus are Christian, and for this reason have vested theological, mental, and might be economic explanations to finish that he existed. However, the proof suggests that Jesus Christ is only a legendary man or woman and on no account existed. For a lot more proof, see the hyperlinks. There also are a number of well books in this, adding: "Nailed: Ten Christian Myths that Show Jesus Never Existed At All" by means of David Fitzgerald "The Jesus Puzzle" by means of Earl Doherty "Not the Impossible Faith" by means of Richard Carrier "Proving History: Bayes's Theorem and the Quest for the Historical Jesus" by means of Richard Carrier -

I completely understand where you're coming from! Sometimes I feel like doubting..but then I realize that I need to have faith. Let me ask you a question...do you pray? Because I do..and it really gives me a close feeling to God. So that right there is proof to me. Reading that book your youth leader is a good idea. I would also go to your pastor...I am almost positive he will be happy to schedule a time to meet with you..and I am sure he knows the Bible very well, so he will be able to show you more things. There are things in the Bible that are happening right now that I am sure you would be amazed if you even knew about. Other than that, there is proof in Israel that Jesus was there at one point in time. Having faith is very important because if you don't have faith then what do you have?

Doubting is human, so, welcome to the human race. To believe totally is . . . well, it must be divine, because it sure beats anything I've been able to do or seen others be able to do. Let me tell you something I started back in 1987 after a crisis in my life. I felt like I didn't really "know" Jesus our Christ, and so I decided, having been through college enough to get three degrees, that I'd apply my studying skills I had learned in college to studying the Bible. I remembered that the courses I had made the best grades in are those where I had taken the best notes from lectures in class, and from the books in the course, so, I decided I'd take extremely good notes as I studied the Bible. But then, I realized that "taking notes" excluded some of the professor's words and some of the textbooks words, and I got puzzled over which of God's Words were ones I could exclude. And then I realized that if I REALLY wanted to know all of God's Words, I couldn't excuded ANY of His words, so, I decided to copy the Bible, word for word, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21 (the end), and after 7 and 3/4 years, I did it. I had copied the entire New International Version Bible, and the learning I got from that was incredible! More than all the Bible classes and sermons I had ever attended. And then I just couldn't quit learning and having that close relation with God, so I took two very orthodox Roman Catholic Bibles and began doing both of them at the same time for a closer study, and I'm in the middle of both of them, actually at Proverbs 16:5 as of today. I know it will take much longer to complete these "copies", if I ever do, but the closeness I have with God is incredibly greater when I go to church and when I do my Bible studies. I know it sounds like an incredibly huge "task", but if you take it as a "walk with God", it's no task at all, and your ability to believe, and understand God's Words in His Bible will be GREATLY enhanced. I used a ball point pen and looseleaf paper, and it has been wonderful. Just a thought to help you. God Bless you.

Jesus the the Living Word of God; the Bible is the Written Word of God.
I accept them but realise that sometimes I mis-understand that they are saying ... or how others try to translate them.
As for Jesus brothers having doubts about Him....well, if you grew up in the same household and saw him working the carpenter's shop, etc. ... but after the Resurrection you will find the Jesus' brother James was a prominent leader in the early Church.
Doesn't solve all the questions, but reading the text in context can help.

You just lack faith, that's all. Try to look in your bible or on some websites that have adequate material, and use faith as the subject. I know the bible says, "to have faith like a child." Think about children--they believe ANYTHING & everything you say because they love, respect, and admire you. You should be the same way toward the Lord. Do not doubt him, because the Bible is the written Word. I know curiosity can get the best of you, but hey here is something that helps me.... if you have ever flown, and been able to look down from the airplane and see the beauty beneath you, you know there is a God. Look around... you wouldn't be here and all the beauty around you wouldn't be here without Him. I think you should keep reading the book. Both of them :)

Here is my take on the whole thing. Jesus was an amazing prophet, trying to spread the word of Gods love. The bible is just a book. Any "word of God" that was put on paper was the interpretation of the writer. There can not be "the word of God" unless he wrote it with his own hand. Besides, we are talking about an illiterate people, who did not understand what a faith was. They told them what they thought they would understand in order to get them to follow them. These stories were metaphors for these people. Just stories to illustrate certain aspects. And most of them were written in parables. Take Adam and Eve, if we are all the descendants of these two people the world is full of incest. Besides where did there sons wives come from? This story was a metaphor for our being cast into life here on Earth, by our own choice. Please don't take the bible literal, look for the underlying reasoning. Do some research on your own. It's good to talk to your bible study teacher, but maybe look outside your faith. You don't have to go to their church building, just to the book store. Good luck sweetheart, And bless you on your journey.

What we choose to believe is far less important than what we choose to do.
You have years to decide what you really want to believe, but each day you should seek to improve yourself, and, so far as possible, the world around you.
Deciding on a religious belief can take years and the most important thing is listen to your own spirit (heart, mind) and do what feels right to you.
Let no one tell you what you should believe or not believe. It is your life and what you believe should bring you comfort and peace of mind.
It can be an exciting and rewarding journey if you don't get too hung up on the little bumps that come up from time to time.
Good luck.

"Despite fundamentalist Christian claims about the New Testament being the inspired word of God and their constant advertising that the Gospels represent 100% accurate history,"according to one critic, "the Gospel accounts contain severe inconsistencies that can only be reconciled by applying insertions of subjective qualifiers into the scriptural text.
While virtually any Biblical scriptural inconsistency or contradiction can be reconciled by mentally rewriting the text and then claiming that's what the scripture really meant all along, some scriptural problems require a gross modification in order to make the problem go away."(1)
Another notes "there are notable inconsistencies in Matthew's gospel account, and that in the gospel of Luke there appears to have been an attempt made to reconcile some of the differences that emerge when comparing Mark's gospel to Matthew's gospel and when considering the inconsistencies in Matthew's gospel. In Matthew's gospel Gentiles are called 'dogs' and they are normally ignored, although if they lower themselves to begging for scraps off the table they can be healed. Redaction criticism reveals however that the Matthew manuscript is composed of sources, and an analysis of these contradictory sources provides complementary evidence for a process of editorial redaction."

I was christian for 15 years. That doubt is the voice of reason. Listen to it.
Seek truth. Dont give up. Always ask questions
Its complicating because their is the struggle in your mind. The desire to believe is not meeting up with the facts that it is not true.
Still believe in good things, thats fine. But Jesus is a myth
there are plenty of web sites I can give you. Many others will let you know also. Listen to them
