My sister is coming to visit from Oregon for 1 day for my Moms Birthday. It will be the first time all of the grandchildren are together, and we are going to have a photo made of all 5 of the grandchildren for my moms birthday. It is a very big deal. We are trying to come up with a theme for the photo, so the girls look similar but still accentuate their differences, i.e. spring dresses, etc. But we can't come up with something that will work well as the 5 girls are very different in ages and looks. They are

Natalie-12-(size 16) heavyset, tall, dark olive skin, long brown super curly hair
Haley-10 -(10/12 girls) slender, normal height, fair skin, thin blonde medium length hair
Lexi-4-(5T) average, tall, tan white skin, thick blonde hair
Athena-3(4T) average, olive skin, thin brown short hair
Rhea-5 months-size 6-12mos- fair skin, dark blonde hair infant.

So you see, the girls are very different, how can we dress them all to "match" but still accentuate their individuality?

Please note, I was only specific about their looks to explain why it is hard for us to come up with something that will be flattering for all of the girls, not to attract pedifiles...wierdo....anyway.
We are very blessed to have such beautiful girls. All very different both physically and in their personalities. I just want to have a picture that celebrates all of them together, but still shows their individuality.
This is a very important photo for our family, as we have never had the opportunity to do this, and it will mean so much to my mom. So I really appreciate the great answers, picking the best will be tough. Thank you everyone for your input.

Something as simple as having them all in the same color t-shirt and jeans. For a causal look. My family had a picture done at the beach and we all wore white t-shirts and jeans. They turned out really lovely.

I saw a picture that was SO beautiful that you could do in addition to the photo of their faces.

It was a black and white photo of a whole family's bare feet. All in a row. You got to see how different yet similar they all were. It was really beautiful. It looked like they all laid on a bed in a row and someone snapped the picture. Really great.

I've seen some really nice looking family photos done where everyone was wearing blue jeans & white t-shirts. I was thinking of suggesting you all get the same style blouse but in different colors. But, I like the idea of the tye dye t-shirts for similarity but different at the same time. If it doesn't come out as overkill, some studios can do a backdrop too that is a white sheet splattered with paint. Looks nice in photos and might accent the tye dye.

We did this wonderful picture in our family once where everyone dressed individual. For exmaple, Im a dancer so I had a dance costume on...my oldest sister held her baby(my nephew), my younger brother had an ASU shirt and basketball shorts on and held a basketball, my other sister had some blocks around her, etc. Itw as the CUTEST picture because everyone showed off a side of their own personality!

Black jumpers with white shirts underneath them, or red jumpers with white shirts underneath them.
The jumpers will unify the look. the dark color will blend with the darker children, and the white shirts will accent the fair skinned children. Black tights or red tights, patent leather shoes.
It may serve best to have the Natalie sitting holding Rhea for contrast and Haley sitting holding Athena , and have Lexi in the middle of them both. You need to focus on dark and light and do not add to other colors in such as orange, or greens, or yellows, as this makes us olive skin (yep me too) look yellower. I can picture them sitting all together on a sofa or setee.

I was going to say the same thing about jeans and barefeet. I've seen these done before and there's something so effective about it. Just from the different hair styles, and body shapes and sizes and the natural look that says so much.

what if you did something like greek goddesses where you can dress them all up in pretty bedsheets and it accentuates their "natural beauty"

or maybe just something like all black with a pretty background

it's much better to do something simple with a plain color that will look great on all of them and show how beautiful they all are

Dress up in matching baseball uniforms holding bats, hats, or gloves, chewing and spittin' tobacky! Make grandma the team cheerleader!

Or you could dress them up as female superheroes, like Wonder woman, Supergirl, Storm, etc! They would love that!

The best idea though is to dress them (and you) all in bikinis and high heels, with banners across their bodies identifying your names and all wearing tiaras... Good one huh?

(Note: It probably would be better for grandma sit on the sidelines for that one though...)

You're giving a little too much info on the girls, names, descriptions.....
Just put them all in the same color, whatever grandma's favorite color is. Whatever she likes, flowers, birdhouse..... have each girl holding one. Don't put one's hair in a ponytail & leave the rest of the girls' hair down. Kinda have their hair fixed the same.

GO CASUAL. MAYBE YOUR MOM IS A SPORTS FAN. HAVE THEM ALL WEAR A FOOT BALL JERSEY FROM THE HOME STATES TEAM.

OR YOU COULD HAVE THE PICTURE TAKEN OUTSIDE. PICTURES BY THE WATER ARE ALWAYS NICE..... HAVE THEM WEAR KHAKI SHORTS AND EACH ONE A DIFFERENT COLOR POLO OR SOMETHING.

GOOD LUCK.

put them all in jeans, barefoot, with tie die t-shirts. Make the shirts together, that way they will all match, but be different, and they will have a souvenier of their family photo
