Your teeth are going to be tender and sore but you should be able to eat just like before, but the first day or so you may want to stick to softer foods just because of the tenderness. The cons are that you have to work harder to keep you teeth clean, your teeth are tender and sore after adjustments are made, and sometimes they can just be a pain. The pros are you in the end you have nice straight teeth.. and a beautiful smile.

Stick to softer foods for the first day or so after you get the braces, to give the glue a chance to harden. Afterwards you can eat just about anything as long as you cut it into small pieces and chew carefully.
However, I suggest you NOT have chewing gum, toffees, caramel, or any kind of sticky food that can get gummed up in the braces because it's a real pain to get it off afterwards.

You can eat that stuff, but you won't want to. The first day I had my braces I was in so much pain I could hardly eat pudding.
