he is really nice and he really really likes me! but i don't like him like that. he always tells me how much he likes me. he's quitting smoking for me and we're not even going out! he talks to me everytime i sign online. he's a really sweet guy but i'm not interested...how do i deal with him without hurting his feelings?

its really hard to get the guy to realize that you are not interested. i had the same problem and no matter how you do it, they will be hurt. but i am still friends with this guy so i must of done somthing right. you need to tell him flat out that your not looking to have a relationship with anyone right now, because you enjoy being single. tell him you think hes a great guy and couldnt date him because you would be so scared to loose him as a friend, and friends are hard to find these days. and everyone knows by dateing a friend hoping it will last most of the time it ends up worse, and yous break up and never talk again because its too werid. so tell him you could never date a friend because your scared to loose them as a friend. he will understand, but still be hurt but at least knows that you still care about him and that he needs to move on.

You don't. If he's in love with you and you cut him off, his feelings will be hurt. No that would not be nice, but it is reality. You do have the right to like who you want and not like who you don't want. You could say that you just want to be friends, unless he has a serious obsessive mental disorder in which case you would want to call the police, but that's only if it comes to that. Maybe he is wierd and thinks that you are interested because you simply give him the time of day. Life sucks sometimes. You can't avoid hurting everybody.

Tell him you have a boyfriend and you love him a lot. If thats not a possibility, simply tell him the truth because trust me nothing really hurts a guy. They are usually tough nuts to crack but at least you will have a clear conscience.

Chances are his feelings are going to be hurt no matter what.
Be kind, be gentle, just talk to him and try to get him to understand that the two of you just aren't a "pair", if you seriously think that is what he really is thinking. Let him know that you value his friendship and think he is a really neat person, but you want to remain "just friends".
