Which is the better workout to burn calories--walking 3.5 miles for one hour or jogging the same distance in a shorter amount of time (let's say 40 minutes)?

If you're walking FAST, then I say walking because you're more likely to get injured jogging and then you'll stop exercising so it defeats the purpose.

I have good friends that jogged for years when young (teens, 20's) and are CRIPPLED now that they're over 40 because they destroyed the cartilage in their knees, etc. thanks to jogging.

If you must jog, jog on grass or a soft, cushiony surface and not on pavement like my friends tended to do.

Over a set distance you will burn about the same amout of calories regardless of speed.

one or the other but done in the morning before you eat anything at all.Because your body will have fasted for at least 8 hrs. and you will be burning fat and not the breakfast you just ate.Good Luck.
