By weight I supposed, but the price should not be a concern, you buy what is required, if you bake something, then medium eggs is fine, if you want to have breakfast, use the large, and if you on a diet use the small.

The last time I went to school, you divided 12 into the price per 12 eggs and in some cases the price might just work out the same per egg in the different sizes. The total cost per dozen would just higher as the egg size got bigger........

Large eggs are usually considered to be the best buy by volume. I remember being told that by my mother as well as our home economics teacher when in school. I must admit, when medium eggs are on sale I tend to buy them, but the old adage of large eggs being the best buy by volume sticks in my head.
Hope that helped.

If you are doing any baking, buy large eggs, as recipes are based off of this size. Don't make this harder than it has to be. They are just eggs and 18 sell for about $1.07(that's 5 cents a piece).

if you are trying to figure out for many eggs to use for a recipe, forget it. Better to use one extra than one less. Eggs come in all sizes, so I can't imagine why else you'd be asking this question.

if you have a walmart near by they price match all other stores or they do in my area.
The only time size really matters is when you use them in baked goods.
