One of the main problems to do with insecticides is the fact that organisms become resistent to them over generations.

For example, If you have a population of 100 bugs, 5 may be resistant to DDT. When you spray 95 die and the five resistant ones survive to reproduce. The following generation is composed only of organisms that are resistant to DDT so the next time you use it it is not as effective. (This is also true of many types of bacteria vs antibiotics)

Also, heavy metals chemicals like DDT have a nasty habit of bioaccumulating, which means that as you go up the food chain the chemical occurs in higher and higher concentrations. those at the top of food chains (eg, raptors, humans etc) can have nasty side effects.

Therefore, chemicals that have so many bad effects should not be used to control pests. what lots of people do to protect crops is to plant a few types of plants together some of which repell the insect in question.

We shld stop dangerous chemicals like DDT as insecticides for plants....spraying them is very useful to plants but veryyy harmful to animals of their food source some times leads to death. They also cause lot and lot of Ground Pollution too.

So Biological Insecticides are being prepared in the ICRISAT.they will launch it abt 2 or 3yrs.They are best insectisides for plants as well as no harm for animals.

DDT should not be used to protect crops. However, it should DEFINITELY be used to protect people. DDT is the most effective way to rid many areas of malaria and dengue carrying mosquitos.

No i don't think they should because if they hurt animals and the their food source then somwhere down the line they are bound to hurt us and kill our children.
