Name him something different. :)
I recently lost a Sheltie, his name was Mick (after Mick Jagger from the Rolling stones.) My uncle named he puppy chihuahua Axel, after Axel Rose.
I live in South Louisiana, and so cajun names can be very common here. Beaux (Bow), Roux (Roo), Beignet (Ben-yeh), Boudin (Boo-dan), Gumbo, etc. I've always liked those names, but considering most are a type of food, you may not want to name you doggy that. Haha.
It is really difficult to think up names for someone else. What I do, is think of my interests. My favorite bands and movies and Such.

For example: I have a 5 month old Maltese I named Truvy, after the character from Steel Magnolias. I have a friend obsessed with Aerosmith - He named his two dogs Steve and Tyler. Another friend whos Yorkies name is Dreamboat Annie, from the Heart song.

hope that helped... some? haha. Good luck!

Sherlock. Basset hounds remind me of detective novels.

Rosco, Copper, Duke, Pal, Basil, Boone. We too just got a new puppy and the naming is the hardest part. Good luck finding a new name.
