Luke 19:29-34 "[Jesus] sent two of his disciples, Saying, Go ye into the village . . . ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. . . . And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? And they said, The Lord hath need of him."

No matter which version of these you read, you cannot conclude anything other than Jesus told his followers to steal the horse. The followers getting caught and just borrowing the horse doesn't change things.

Woooooooooo Hoooooooooooo

That's it, next sunday I'll be down the church stealing the collection plate.

And when anyone complains I'll just say "Luke 19:29-34 says that I can have it as I need it more than you."

They won't have a leg to stand on in court.

That's one of the reasons that we have more than one account of the life of Jesus so that people who don't understand one passage can get a better understanding of Jesus from a parallel passage.

Mark 11:2 and said to them, "Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. 3 If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.'" 4 And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. 5 And some of those standing there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?" 6 And they told them what Jesus had said, and they let them go.

He just borrowed the donkey and the people said it was ok.

Most obvious POSSIBLE answer:
Jesus was not stupid. He knew that he had made powerful enemies.
He knew that one of his supporters would be providing him with a colt .
They would leave the colt out where anybody could see it. And there might be a thief or two around.
So there was a code phrase, that the providers of the colt had pre-arranged, so that nobody BUT those sent by Jesus would get the colt.

LEAST likely possible answer:
Jesus was sending us a message: That private automobiles, which pollute the air and which require us to enrich the oil milionaires, are BAD. We should RIDE THE BUS! After all, when Jesus entered Jerusalem, it was just like riding the bus. He was not steering his own vehicle.
He was sitting on his @ss, surrounded by an unwashed noisy crowd. Just like riding a City bus.

You ask the question with assumption that there is easily a "proper doctrine" From my point of view faith is a weak attempt at attempting to attain convenience in case you can't take care of the authentic international, then there is the pursuit of potential and faith is nice for that. Why do opt for to have self belief that you've been born into sin and are a lowly being in choose of saving, and that you're inherently evil devoid of morality till you follow a pair previous e book. contained with regards to christianity you even must have self belief that by human sacrifice your sins were forgiven, yet you till eventually prefer to be saved. In islam you'll need self belief that Homosexuals and Unbelief is punished by skill of lack of life "actually stated - you ought to throw then from the utmost position" and that martyrdom is excellent. females are second classification voters who must be subservient and hidden, they are the resources of their husbands. faith degrades the conception of being human, devoid of it you'd be a lot happier, i'm, and that i do have morals (i'd say better ideal to those of the non secular) in case you opt for which skill on your life do not look to historic texts, supply it which skill, make it sensible. are you able to extremely say dropping a at the same time as praying and discriminating hostile to gays and atheists and attempting to understand some unreachable righteous purity is extremely worth it? Why no longer go back and forth the international, see its elegance, help human beings in choose, wrestle for human rights and equality. This extremely is a own component and no man or woman can make the alternative for you, only think about what your easily gaining and could it extremely make your life better suited? good success

He borrowed it. Luke 19:29-34 fulfills old testament prophecy concerning his life. Jesus fulfilled more than 300 prophecies about himself. Some of these prophecies were written 700 - 1000 years before Christ walked this earth proving He is the son of God.

I've always gotten a kick out of that passage. I think Jesus was getting a little full of himself at that point and felt that he could do anything or take anything that he wanted.

Actually, the owner willingly gave his colt because he knew Jesus as Lord - once he learned what was happening.

Too bad you don't seem to. Or am I wrong, hopefully?
