The best place to go to lose weight is right where you are sitting. Read this:
Losing weight really is as simple as basic addition and subtraction. If the calories you eat add up to more than what you burn in a given time period, you will gain weight. Conversely, if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. Depending on your size and activity level, the number of calories will vary quite a bit. The secret is finding your “break even” calorie intake level. For most people, the “ball park” figure will be around 1800 to 2000 calories per day. If you are larger than average, this number will be higher, lower if you are smaller than average. Metabolic rate can have an effect on these numbers as well. Exercise plays an important role also, as this can increase the number of calories you burn by quite a bit as well as increasing your metabolic rate.
If you want a generally healthy diet that’s easy to follow and avoids hunger, the one I recommend will do the job very well. You can fill up and still lose weight. Eat lots of fresh vegetables as they contain very few calories yet are full of good nutrition. The less you cook them, the more nutrition they retain. Stick with whole grains, as they tend to be better for you and don’t turn to sugar as readily as processed grains do. For example, whole grain bread is much better for you than plain white bread. Eat a variety of fruit on a daily basis. Avoid empty carbs, fats, and sugars…. Examples: junk food and soda. If you feel you need protein to build muscle, add some chicken or fish to your diet. Avoid beef and dairy products, the cons outweigh the pros.
If you can’t get your mind into the ‘eat to live; don’t live to eat mode‘, you should probably read this short article on the psychology behind overeating:

you don't want to go through bootcamp to lose weight. im not overweight but i was 180 before and i wanted to get cut. so i ate alot of granola bars and healthy stuff during the day whenever i got hungry, and started drinking green tea. my metabolism went through the roof. and i lost 20 pounds pretty quickly.
also exercise helps.
but the problem with exercise is that it feels like work so people try to get out of it. exercise should feel good, and be fun. dont watch the movies where the guy/girl dresses like rocky and runs through the streets till he cant breathe, u do that once and u'll never exercise again. if u cant run 3 miles. run a .5 miles. (sorry im a metric guy so that's the best i can give u). the secret to exercise is u shouldn't be tired but u should feel good and energized. and gradualy increase.
dont try anything like boot camp, try this. u gota treat urself like a human not a machine. if u have any questions email me

listen up!!! there is a military stile boot camp that you can attend and is geared up to get you in shape!!!!! I know that in New York, California and Florida . There is a special boot camp stile of exercise that you can pay for, and get yelled at stressed out and pushed to you're absolute limits. you even get issued a combat uniform boots and the instructors are former military drill Sergent's!!! I would look it up locally to see if the service is available in you're area.
Its worth it believe me I know!!

Try looking up "Fatpackers". They don't have month-long hikes, but there are two week ones, and the hikes are strenuous enough that most people lose weight. Unfortunately you would need to travel to do it, but overall it's not too expensive when you figure what you get out of it.
