Colorado. specifically Vail, Breckinridge. You can ski, snowmobile, horseback riding or just sit in the lodge looking up at the rocky mountains.

If you want a cold vacation... check out Telluride, Colorado. It is an amazing little town in the Colorado Rockies. Oprah, Tom Cruise and other private celebrities have owned vacation homes there at various times. The scenery is breathtaking. The actual town of Telluride is a artsy/touristy town... but much smaller (and less formal/snobby) than Aspen. You can stay at the Peaks Resort Spa, one of the largest resort spas in the USA. I think they have something like 30+ massage therapists on hand. There is a free gondola that takes you from Telluride to another town called, Mountain Village. There are lots of outdoor winter sports to keep you busy all day long. Or, you can just shop in town or enjoy the spa. Perfect for a 4 - 5 day getaway. Airfare to "TEX" is often about $400 - $450, however.

If you're not into the winter sports thing, head south to Florida. Visit Miami or Orlando. Miami has so much culture. The beaches are amazing. Lots of sun. Orlando has Disney World and several other theme parks, of course. Airfare to Orland (and Miami too) is often cheap. Maybe $175 - 250 from most US cities.

I would recommend going to Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. Nice restaurants, skiing, and nice local pubs. Lots of fun.

Cold: New York City (lots of things to do, especially the nightlife), Buffalo (not as huge as New York City, but it's not the best U.S. city to me, eh)

Not so cold: Florida (beaches, a lot to do, especially Walt Disney World)
California (Los Angeles -- LOTS TO DO, especially shopping), as well as San Francisco, San Diego) -- SF is beautiful, nice to sightsee. Stuff like that.

Lake Tahoe for skiing and other snow sports, and when you get tired sit in a Casino and pull a few slots.
