I dated this guy a while ago and after a while we broke up. We were best friends before our relationship. He stopped talking to me and I missed hanging out with him. I tried working it out with him but nothing seemed to work. He recently started talking to me again. I was really happy. Then he asked me out again. He tells me he still loves me and everything. I don't want to say yes. He bought me an expensive gift and everything. How can I reject him and still be friends?

You should kindly tell him, "thankyou for the gift but I just want to be friends with you for now and I just don't want to go threw what we both just went threw because its just not worth it yet we should slow down our relationship but not to slow."

Im not sure if thats possible sweetie! I hope you dont mind, but he seems realy stubborn. He only want to love you, he likes you more than just friends. It might be having to see you all the time and in the back of his head him saying that you'll never be more than friends. Well, in thie situation I would go on one more date with him and at the end or the next day tell him-
"well, i realy had fun, but i think we should put off the dating for a while. Us being friends and all. we'll saty friends and hang out until I can proccess the idea"
Who knows, he might realy be the guy! There must have been some reason you went out with him to begin with. I wish you the best of luck, and i hope i made a difference!

wow, please don't take anybody's advice on here so far. I, personally, would not say anything until he directly asks you about it. if he does, say that you don't share the same feelings for him, and would prefer to stay friends. I would also steer clear from him for a little while. Don't dissapear, just don't try to talk to him everyday so he can get over it. However, if he does not directly make any comments, I would play with the situation and make a joke. Not a crude one, just something that does not create an awkward tension. This way you don't have to give him a serious answer. It will pass.

before you let him down easy again... maybe you should ask yourself what you missed most about him when he wasn't talking to you and be honest w/yourself. otherwise just tell him how much his friendship means to you and right now you value that more than any other kind of relationship. Tell him you hope that the two of you have moved beyond this heartache and you cant imagine ever intentionally hurting him and would never want to.Good luck

If he's nice and everything and he loves you, maybe he want more than friends and you should be his girlfriend and work out whatever you don't like about him until the point where you don't want to be his girlfriend.
