You push the brake lever sideways to upshift and there's a smaller lever on the side of the brake lever used to downshift.

It is called Dual Control by Shimano. The Sora shifters in particular going by your description. The other Shimano shifters use the brake lever and a smaller lever behind it to shift. Campy uses a small lever behind the brake lever and a thumb lever. SRAM uses the brake lever to upshift and downshift.

They're called shifter/Levers. Here's the cut/paste from parts dealer on Shimano's journeyman road group:

Shimano Ultegra 10sp Double ST-6600 STI Levers

Dual control is the one where the brake lever is used as a shifter. It has also been dubbed the STI with some riders because of the road group that worked with the same technology. Not knowing if you ride a road bike or a mountain bike I had to take a guess and picked one.

A big link address to Shimano but they describe their product in great detail that may help to find what your looking for.

Gosh, it's funny how everyones mind went to Shimano STI's to answer this question. Lets not forget other company's out there like Campy and Sram that also make those shifters.

The Campys are called Ergos and I'm not sure what the Sram are called.
