ZIP codes are an American invention. Other countries have postal codes with different amounts of numbers and/or letters (for example, I believe Australia has a mixture of four digits and letters in its postal code), and those vary depending on what region of the country you are mailing to. You would need to check the website for the postal authority in the city or region of India that you are mailing to to get an accurate postal code.
