I think I understand your question. Of course, none of us really know the answer. But, I think, many people have tendencies to ridicule what they do not understand. This, includes believers and non-believers. Because it is a human trait and we are all human. It really does not have anything to do with religion. It has to do with the unknown. If someone ask about your religion or non-religion, then, tell them, and answer their questions as best you can. If they don't respect your answers, then, stop. DO NOT argue.

They ridicule and show an antagonistic unbelief against the God of the Bible. Christianity is not a matter of offending people or forcing them to believe in a certain system of beliefs since that is strictly manipulation and not information about true salvation and grace. Maybe some will come to Jesus like we have and they can become enlightened to and respond to God's voice which may be in anyway heard small and His light which may be in any way or any place seen dimly, even through believers.

Some non-believers do like to bait the believers and draw them into stupid debates. Others perhaps are genuinely hoping for an intelligent answer that will give them a reason to believe. Possibly the latter may be in the minority? I don't know. There are probably other reasons too, that I can't think of. But the Bible says to always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope you have within you. If they are just looking for an excuse to put you down, you do not have to engage in doubtful disputations. Then it is time to just walk away, I guess. Jesus did not always answer the Pharisees.

Thats great. Problem is christians dont leave it as their Personal belief.
I couldnt care if people believed Jesus was their fairy God Mother. Unless they wanted our view of all life filtered through this ridiculous belief. Christians are politically active, trying to get christian laws 'secularized' and turned into every ones laws. If christians dont like others critizising their religion, then keep it to yourselves. And get your leaders to stop using their power to manipulate life for us who know the religion is rubbish.
So Mainly the questions are often asked so as to show you how ridiculous the belief is, in a hope to deconvert you. So as to destabilize the christian religous foundation.
The best part is, we have truth on our side. Even many of the christian leaders are aware of that fact. Thats why they tell you its a 'faith thing' and not about evidence. They are aware there isnt any evidence

Beacause for whatever reason we don't believe, we are still naturally curious as to why YOU believe. We are just trying to understand you a little more.

Perhaps these people are seeking out their spiritual identity and other's opinions matters to them.
It could also be that they are using other opinions for comparative purposes to affirm their own beliefs.
Christianity is supposed to be about seeking out the non-believers, not just the righteous..

Every man, woman, and child has an inner yearning for God, or Spirit of the Universe, if you will. I think they are just lost souls looking for answers. I, for one, will continue praying for them.
