Sometimes we need the help of a professional when we bring things to the surface. I'm wondering, seriously, how your childhood was. Sometimes the kind of rage, and numbness of feelings, are the result of childhood wounds that are still festering, and affecting our present lives. If the wounds are very serious, like from violence, there can be Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, similar to what combat veterans get. Maybe you are a combat veteran. Or it could be trauma from some other very catastrophic experience(s).
I wouldn't go to a psychic, but the right therapist is definitely worth it to help work through some of that stuff. Rage can be very powerful, and almost overwhelming, and so can sadness and fear and memories that we block out. The adrenalin surge gives us a rush, and we can actually get addicted to that, so that feeling calm seems abnormal! It's okay to need support, and to get the right kind.
If finances are a problem, there are clinics that go by sliding scale.
God bless you

Just sit in a quiet room with no distractions and try to empty your mind and wait. They will come to the surface.

I just let the question sit in the back of my mind and the knowledge usually pops foreword. The key is not to think about it intentionally.
