For Americans, I'd say it is parsing through all the political garbage of today to remember the burning passion our founding fathers had in molding our country.
If Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and all their cohorts were alive today, they'd be kicking a lot of politicians out of Washington DC in all political parties. I think we've lost focus and been pulled into the world of politics....eg. did he sleep with her...did he say what exactly in what way....what is she really trying to say...and so on.
What we really need to return to is what founded our nation.
The passion of those that gave their lives for it, and the document that says it all - The Constitution.

To get rid of civilization, which by definition (cities) is unsustainable. Any society that has to import resources is unsustainable.
Freedom's challenge is to learn how to survive in the long run without going extinct. We cannot survive without a Net Creativity level where we create more future usefulness than we consume in resources.
All the rest is politics and a matter of timing.

Too much goverment interference in citizens every day life. Every year they pass new laws, and they don't remove the old ones. There are more government departments and new technology lets government spy on millions of people all at once. Now the Federal government is even making it mandatory that you tag every animal you own (except dog/cats) and every time you take a horse on a trail ride or your 4-H calf to a show, you must file forms with them! (look up "NAIS")
If citizens don't pay attention to their lawmakers and if government keeps growing in size, soon we'll need permission from the government to flush the toilet. ;-)
My favorite quote is:
"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." --Thomas Jefferson
