The key is understanding. There is a huge difference, which most people don't realize between patience and understanding. Someone could have no patience for a child, however, if they understand them, can be a terrific caregiver. A caregiver needs to understand the moral development of the child and the actual level of abilities. Which are often misunderstood. A child will not work to meet the needs and expectations of their caregiver, they work to meet the needs of themselves, and they learn best this way.

The main thing is to keep them busy into a positive activity, whether it be arts and crafts,or outdoor activities.
Make sure they eat proper and drink fluids like juice or water often.
When they get fussy, try to find an activity fast to get their mind off boredom.

I provide Developmentally appropriate activities, that engage them, and challenge them. Most activities are child directed with gentle guidance from the teacher.
I provide them with proper nutrition, love, and attention.
I read to them and I am read to by them.
Above all we discover the world together through their eyes.

I think as long as they are happy and safe, my job is being done.
I also try to talk to them about things they're interested in- their pets, favorite cartoons, etc.
Also, I don't talk down to them or talk over their heads.
