My husband and I have new neighbors across the street... they haven't officially moved in yet, but, will do so within the next week. Today we introduced ourselves, but, I would like for them to feel welcomed. No one gave my husband and I any type of welcome (i.e. gift basket, etc), but, I wanted to be a different neighbor than the neighbors were to me. The new neighbors are like my husband and I, no kids and married for five years. I would love suggestions on something small I could do from my husband and I to give to the neighbors. I guess I'm asking what's proper etiquette for welcoming people into the community. Thanks for your suggestions!!!!

Bring them a baked good or maybe invite them over for dinner. Just give them a few days to get settled. I wish I had neighbors like you!!

If they are moving in, chances are they will not have time to cook dinner and will probably have to order take out... again. Maybe if you made them a cassarole and brought over some paper plates, forks, knives, cups, drinks, etc... they might appreciate a homemade meal and especially the thought of you including everything they need to enjoy the meal.
When you bring the dish over, tell them that you and your husband would like to have them over for dinner after they get settled, but thought they might enjoy a homecooked meal in the midst of moving.
See where it leads. They might invite you in to eat with them (pack extra plates and plastic utensils, which you can always say you've included for leftovers if you aren't invited.)
Good luck!

No. I stay in the interior city the position human beings come and bypass fairly instantly. Plus human beings in simple terms are not that pleasant. i have been in this position of living 30 years now and my outdoor neighbor is in simple terms now waving again at me. except that, fairly some the acquaintances were in position lower than a twelve months. i understand a pair of fellows next door gave out invites to their housewarming party even as they moved in--and then proceeded to play music genuine loud and human beings were ingesting and being loud out in the line till lengthy after 3am. As a touch newborn, I keep in mind mom bringing cookies or some thing to new acquaintances yet there have been not that many, human beings appeared to stay in a unmarried homestead for years and years--yet anybody knew anybody else in the community too (each and every of the youngsters went to a similar college). Now, i have not a clue what nutritional habit human beings have--and they have fairly some them lately.

a gift basket that i would put a carnish hen and patotoe salad and something to drink and dinner rolls. things like that, or get her some flowers and something to drink., or a homemade pie or a 3 bean casserole, just about anything will work. and if you wonted to you could also get them a card to go with the basket.

Try flowers, and after work- you never know if someone has food allergies, or can't eat certain foods. After work they might have longer to chat.
After meeting, then you can follow up with a longer visit.

I never learned how tho properly do this from my parents either. Shake hands, smile and welcome them as your neighbor. Envite them over sometime and give them alcohol. This has worked with most of my neighbors.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE THEY ARE BEFORE YOU TRY TO GET TOO FRIENDLY WITH THEM. THEY MAY JUST TURN OUT TO BE SOMEONE YOU DETEST AND WISH YOU HAD NEVER SEEN THEM.
