when i start it, the engine vibrates like no tommorow. it is automatic trans. but when it shifts gear it shakes like an old manual 1987 Honda Accord. i was backing up from a parking lot, and it started vibrating so badly, i could see the hood of the car shaking up and downup to an inch. Maybe sell?

this could be any number of problems...but it sounds like it has a miss...or a dead cylinder. It could be something as simple as bad spark plugs and/or spark plug wires or something more complex such as a burnt valve. The thing to do is first pull the spark plugs...you will be able to tell by looking at them which cylinder is not fireing. while you have the plugs run a compression check....if the compression is consistent in all cylinders then you should replace the plugs and wires.

If you have low compression in one cylinder..sorry it will need major repairs.

Either replace the four motor mounts about $600 parts and labor then wait for something else to fail or buy another car. You used to like the 17 year old car didn't you? See some of the new Nissan offerings at the dealer today. And your hood was maladjusted after the front end accident. The hood should fit tightly

Check the plugs and plug wires. It sounds like you have an ignition misfire. Master tech 40 yrs.

you won't be able to sell.
the guy's gonna take one look at the junk heap and tell you he'll take it for FREE.

the tranny is going bad.
you should change the fluid because it sounds like you never bothered to take decent care of your car..
just like everyone else.
nobody knows about this.
change your tranny fluid and hope it stops vibrating.

otherwise, you need a new tranny.
about $600 before installation costs.

Its either the engine mounts or the auto transmission; or both.

More then likely it's your engine mounts. And if it is, the repairs are more then likely going to cost more then your car is worth.
