Peppermint plus has helped a lot of people. Take 1 or 2 capsules between meals and in the evening. A good probiotic supplement is also useful. See Elizabeth Lipski's book Digestive Wellness. She also recommends: Psyllium, gamma oryzanol, glutamine, chamomile, ginger, and a high potency multiple vitamin-mineral supplement. She also discusses some of the possible causes of IBS and how to determine the cause of the problem.
You will profit greatly from a careful study of this excellent useful book.

I feel for you - my daughter is going through the same thing. After all the tests ruled out anything else her doctor said they needed to try to control the stress in her life. She has a high pressure job. The doctor put her on Zoloft - a mood elevator - which has helped some. She is also doing some yoga and tai chi to help her with the stress. Reiki has also helped.

All you can do is try some of these things to help you learn to release the stress. She also watches what she eats that sets her off and avoids it like the plague.

Wish I could be more helpful - good luck!

I take Zelnorm for my IBS but my doctor also told me that milk of magnesia every time it starts to bother me is the next best thing, it really depends on your symptoms though

wow, thats realy sad. you should see if you are allergic to something . it might be something as simple as being allergic to milk. try cutting out the dairy for a while and see if that helps.

I think you have to go to a doctor, that way something will be prescribed appropriate for you.
