Filet is one of the tenderest but not so tasty. That's why they wrap it with bacon and call it filet mignon. My general preference is porterhouse, but a high-grade Kansas City Strip tastes even better.
If you consider prime rib as a steak, tell your butcher that you want only the first three ribs. Heavenly!!!

the most tender cut of meat is filet mignon. it is a small muscle that is in a place where it doesnt get worked at all so it doesnt get tough. Any cut can be tender, it all depends on how you prepare and cook the meat. Now, if you dont wanna break the bank with a filet, then try a nicely marbled rib eye steak. Marinating about 24 hours in advance is the key!!!!

Rib eye steaks have the most marbling (fat) so they have the most flavor and are more tender than the other cuts.
In addition, buy Black Angus or Kobe steaks. Those are top of the line for flavor.
An Angus Rib Eye cooked medium will make you faint.

Yes, there is. Fillet Mignon is very tender but is also rather tasteless. For a juicy, tasty steak, I recommend two: Strip steak and boneless rib steak. Both are positively delicious. Enjoy!!

Rib Steak, whether you prefer the bone in variety, or the boneless ribeye also known as the Delmonico, they have a even distribution fat and it it hard to cook it tough.
In my many years as a chef that was the steak I would cook for myself or promoted to customers for eating enjoyment, I like one in the 14 -16 oz size bone in and grilled a perfect medium rare.

Porterhouse! Think t bone but better. Go to a real butcher and buy a quality one. The last one I had was about $22 for a two pounder. Man was that good!

Filet mignon, of course. It costs a little more but if you like a good steak it's worth it.

The tenderloin is the tenderest......it goes under different names..like Filet Mignon. So don't be fooled by the name. Just ask your local butcher for tenderloin.
