Cooking salt is generally just for cooking and has not been through the same process as table salt which is more refined

I've never heard of "Cooking salt". Table salt has iodine in it. They put iodine in table salt several decades ago to help prevent hypothyrodism. A lot of people don't use it to cook because it has a different taste. I would assume that the cooking salt was either sea salt or kosher salt. Neither have iodine. Kosher salt is popular to cook with because it is flaky and disolves quickly.

Cooking salt is usually pure salt crystals whereas table salt has an added ingredient - anti-caking agents to prevent it from clumping in humid conditions and blocking the salt cellar.

Table salt has something added to make it free flowing, cooking salt doesn't and can stick together in the damp

I am thinking it may have to do with the iodine - in that table salt has iodine and cooking salt may not?
