Seeing as most people believe in God and attend Church at least a little, I would say there is a very high social relevance in our modern society. Just because someone doesn't agree with one religion or any religion, or they are even hostile to it, I can't see how they would be stupid enough to say there is no relevance in the church itself. For good or for bad, all churches in our society have relevance. To ignore that would be a great lapse of judgment.

the social relevance is that the church, at least the way Christ wanted it to be was to be believers walking in the power of Christ, healing, helping, serving and bettering our community. Yet Christianity is bashed more than anyother religion and it's the other religions flying planes into our buildings, all real Christians do is love everybody, don't get me wrong there are people who claim to be Christian but are not, they have the wrong motive and cram the gospel down others throats.
That's not the way it's supposed to be, now wonder we have aethiesm, those are people who find people not following Christ but using His name simply unbelievable.
Let me put it to you this way, the Church as a whole has stayed quiet on a bunch of issues, the first school shooting didn't happen until after 1962, does anyone know what happened in 1962? Prayer got taken out of shcool, you go figure it out.
I pray with my daughter. And I will teach her to pray in school.

If there is any social relevance at all it would be that we are not a threat to anyone. At least Christians aren't. Some of us that don't take time to do what Jesus said yell and scream little bit but we are harmless by nature. When you mix us with political goals we can become very deadly because Jesus is no longer calling the shots

Despite anyones beliefs, one would have to admit that churches do a lot of good in the world. They help feed the hungry, take care of the sick, visit those in prison and take care of their families, and generally meet the needs of the poor. Unfortunately it is not all churches that do this.
Many people will question their motives, I know, but if the poor are fed and clothed isn't that what Jesus, Mohammad, or Abraham would have done?

I believe my church is a place where people have a common purpose - to serve God and those He created. Our men's group gets together every Saturday morning to do outside work for the elderly or those in need. The women's group does indoor chores or shopping for those in need. We volunteer together to help the inner city youth in our area. My church family is very supportive of each other too. When I had surgery this summer, they cooked meals for me and cut my grass. They're a great group of people with common beliefs. Because of those beliefs, we spend a lot of quality time together. We even play basketball once in a while.
