All the time, when they find out about my religion, most people tend to change to me. People generalize a lot, because someone heard or met somebody who had certain attitude that doesn't mean everyone in that particular religion are alike! True Christians are hatred because they're different, all that's different we discriminate. Jesus prophesied about this when he said: "If you were part of this world the world would love you, and because you are not part of this world the world hates you" (John 15:19) Also said: "They will hatred you and kill you because of my name..."" (Matt 24:9) Better check it for yourself in your own Bible.

False assumptions about Catholic Christians??? Too many to list... here's a couple:

Many non-Catholics and many Catholics assume that Catholics are not Christian. The truth is that Catholics are the original Christians.

Many assume that Catholics don't read the Bible. The truth is that Catholics are encouraged to read the Bible. The Church teaches us that “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ!”.

Further, Catholics are given the opportunity to hear the Word of God proclaimed each and every day during Mass at their Catholic Church. Each and every day, there is a reading from the Old Testament, Psalms and Gospel. On Sunday there is an additional reading from the Epistles. These readings are followed by a short reflection (a Homily) on what was proclaimed.

Look at Acts 13:14-17 to see this same thing being done by the Apostles.

It happens all the time on this site. People assume that because you are Christian, you hate homosexuals, Muslims, murderers, or anyone else who doesn't fit in with your beliefs. A Christian is taught to follow the teachings of Jesus. He didn't use hatred or scare tactics. He showed love and compassion for others. I try to do the same.

I am Catholic and people assume all kinds of nonsense about the Catholic faith that is not correct. They seem to think we worship Mary for one thing. They think that we worship statues and paintings (I guess it is okay to have that statue of Abraham Lincoln in Wachington D.C.! and pictures of their loved ones hanging around their own homes) They call the Pope the Antichrist....they've been saying that for hundreds of years....which one is it?...well, there are at least 30 misconscrued ideas people have with the Catholic faith...The problem is the lack of desire to find out from a Catholic what a Catholic Church REALLY teaches...best wishes.

I've had people assume that I was evil because I was an atheist, but generally, when noting that someone is Christian, I carefully consider how intelligent they sound and appear to be to decide how fundamental their beliefs are.

Well Ive had people assume I am a demonic Satan-worshiper because I am Wiccan. But when I was a Christian many people thought I supported George Bush and was a Republican.

Well, I'm not a christian, but this boy assumed that I was promiscuous because I was an atheist. It was an incredibly stupid judgment by his part.

Not everybody is racist. But EVERYBODY is prejudice. It
means to pre-judge. Assuming things about a person before we
get to know them. Jumping to conclusions, thinking we know they're motivations.
How many times have we thought we knew what someone was
up to. AH HUH!
Only to find out we were wrong, and made ourselves feel like a heel!

It a strange question since it's Christians that assume they know how everybody else should live their lives. Hay I guess that's the answer, we do.

all the time . . . on a daily basis, I have people assume lots of things about me that are untrue. Most of the time, though, I must say, I am given ample opportunity to either explain myself or show them different through my actions. I have met very few people who hold on to misconceptions about me just because.
