Don't smoke.

Smoking is a lifetime addiction that results in a painful death from lung cancer.

Listen to your parents--if you want to be cool, go jump off a bridge or something. Smoking is going to cost you an arm in the leg.

Let's say you smoke 1 pack a day for 40 years. That's around $3, not considering inflation. That's nearly $44,000 you could have saved to buy a new car or house!

Plus if you get caught, your parents' trust has been lost.

Gosh, girl. Don't even start that smoking thing! It is such a waste of money!!!!!!!

You can do it once in a great while when you are totally stressed out and depressed, it takes your mind off of it, but to do it every day and several times a day like most people. You'll just waste your money, and get into a bad crowd of people.

Don't smoke. Listen to your parents.

What should I do? Consider yourself a moron and jump off a bridge. Dig this, I have been smoking since I was 13. That was twenty seven years ago. I will freely admit that I can not quit. The first thing I do when I wake up is light a cigeratte. I'm smoking one right now. Dont be stupid, it's not worth it.

Visit the lung cancer patients at your local hospital. If they are willing and are physically able to chat with you see what they would suggest. Then if you are willing to end up in their shoes one day, talk to your parents again. At least then you would be making an informed decision. Remember smoking is a lifetime addiction that usually lands you in the family cemetery.

Good luck on making the best decision and to many years of good health and happiness!

So, you want to spend your hard earned pocket money on

making your clothes smell
making your hair smell
making your breath smell
making your skin have a grey tinge
being unable to run for the bus without getting breathless
getting nicotine-stained fingers
being addicted to something so your next puff is all you can focus on
making kissing you a not altogether pleasant experience
being a social outcast
making your teeth go yellow
making your gums recede
making your jaw bone disintegrate so you lose your teeth
giving yourself a smoker's cough
starting the process of blocking your arteries
turning your lungs to charcoal
...an addiction that in years to come you'll spend a fortune trying to kick.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan(!)

There is a reason that people aren't considered adults until they are 18. You will understand these reasons after you grow up. Until then, appreciate the fact that your parents are responsible for your well-being and that you are taken care of by parents that actually care about you. Have faith that they know how to keep you safe and healthy. When you are old enough to understand the depth and meaning of the consequences for your own actions, and when you have experienced your health failing just a bit, then you will have the understanding that you are mortal and should respect your healthy body while it is still healthy.

Why would you want to start smoking? When your parents tell you shouldn't do something they are just trying to be good parents. They tell you that you should not smoke, just like they would tell you not to jump off of a bridge they are just looking out for you.You don't realize that now but one day you will appreciate them.I never thought i would say that to anybody because i too wanted to smoke as a teen ,and always hated people telling me what i'm telling you ,now i have children and i would tell them not to smoke either.

Hello,

I have a story to tell you. It's about a wonderful man. A loving and caring father and grandfather. He'd been smoking all of his life. He was a great person. A good person... A kind person, who unfortunately had a bad habit... smoking. By his mid-50's, he was slowly getting sick, and it progressed rapidly. He quite smoking in his early 60's. He was, from the age of 66, connected to an oxygen tank and his mobilty critically reduced. He was in and out of hospital during those years. He couldn't even go in the shower by himself. Here was this loving man who was becoming incapacitated. He rarely moved from his lounge chair in the dining room, as his stength wouldn't allow him to. In the early 2004 he was hospitalised, by mid-year he was in rehab, and on 27th September 2004 he passed away in front of his wife and his eldest daughter.

His daughter still mourns. She was always there, when she wasn't working she was by his side and with her mother. His grandson was with her almost everyday too, to comfort her as she was distressed and emotional.

I am the grandson. and to this very day I mourn a great man. He achieved so much in his life.

My Grandfather was aged just 69 when his life ended, leaving his loving wife, 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. His life was drastically cut short due to smoking and his lungs breaking down. His lungs were only working at 18%. 18% !

Smoking is one of the worlds leading causes for disease and loss of life... preventable loss of life. If there is any good that can come from smoking, that's learning from our mistakes and banning it completely.

This is just one story of thousands around the world. My heart is still broken... i didn't know my Pop before he was sick. I'm 19. And my strongest memory... an image I will never forget, is my Grandfather on Christmas Day 2003. He could barely move. It was a hot Australian day, and he was so sick. I would glady have taken my life to save his. I loved him so much... I still do.

Follow your parent's advice. Don't do it. It's not fair to them. I know what they'll go through... I know what you'll go through. You don't want to go down the same road my Grandfather did...
