You probably have tonsilitis. I would see a doctor immediately so that you can start your antibiotics ASAP. I woulnd't wait too long. I had it several times even with the pus embedded in my tonsils. If you wait too long it could cause an ear infection. I've had ear infections because of the frequent occurences with my tonsils. I've perforated my eardrums 3 times and even became resistant to the usual antibiotics. Go now! If it happens to you all the time, get them removed. The pain of keeping them is not worth it sometimes. I know because I still have mine and I'm still paying for it. Hey, jello and ice cream isn't that bad, plus, it would only be temporary.

Tonsils are there to prevent other germs and bacteria from getting into our airway. Now, with some people the fact that their tonsils are always infected makes it an option to remove them so they don't get sick all the time. that's a personal decision. I always gargle with warm saltwater with baking soda and then drink green tea at the very start of sore throat. If you have white spots it could be strep throat which is dangerous because left untreated it can cause rheumatic fever and heart murmurs. so, since I am not a Dr. you must take someones advice or treatment if you think it is that bad. good luck.

well your tonsils are there because they are suppose to keep out germs they are like a filter, however sometimes the germs attack your throat and the tonsils swell because the germs attack your throat first.....Swollen tonsils and adnoids work togeather but if you have your tonsils get that way often you really need to have them removed. If you have your tonsils removed you will not have to live on jello and ice cream except fot just a few days, that type surgery is very fast recovery....it want last any longer than that sore throat you have now,and the pain goes away in a few days and you will never have to worry with them again....
