The purpose of friendship is to have a person or people around you that can give you a feeling of security. Friends build confidence. Also friend help you go through tough times when you are alone. I just figured this out when my mom died this week. TRUE friends will do anything for you, and if you have TRUE friends you'll be happier and more relaxed at times.

you shouldnt die for friendship, the purpose of friendship is to have companionship, just like any of our relationships, each just have a diff type of companionship, the friend is inbetween the relationship/companionship of family and lovers, theyre close to both but are neither. their inbetween thats why some people confuse them

TRUE friendship is very rare! Sure you may have friends, but ask for a favor, and they denied, you found out that a friend. A true friend will go to visit you at jail, hospital, and specially if you have AIDS!

I have one heart deep friend. She would defend me to the end, as I would her.
I love her as if she was a sister. I am closer to her than my sisters.
Loyalty to the ones we love cause people to lay down their lives in that defense. It's sad and bitter.
This is why people should make sure where their loyalties lie, and if the other person is that loyal to them, or where is that other person's love?!!
