I'm 5'1, around 120, 29 years old, and I'm trying to get down to 110. That was my weight until February. I've been doing 30 minutes of cardio and a little bit of stregnth training pretty much every day for 4 1/2 weeks, and I've cut out almost all sugar. (which is why I think I put the 10 pounds on) I don't have a scale, but it doesn't seem like I've lost much at all. I've never been an overeater, and I've always had alot of energy. Is it possible that because my metabolism is already naturally pretty high that I need to do cardio longer?

You seem to be doing a great job! you have to add variety to you exercise as well , otherwise you body becomes "immune" to the exercise. cardio is the best to lose weight and you should do between 45-60 minutes of it a day.. and keep doing the strength trainning because the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

30 minutes can be long enough - maybe you just need to increase the intensity. I don't know what you're doing for cardio, but try adding a minute a super intense, heart pounding cardio at least 5 times throughout your session.

Well, what's your cardio regimen? Usually you want your cardio to be 80% of your maximum heart rate. For a healthy, normal individual its 200-your age, so for you its about 140. If you can't maintain that rate for about an hour, then try to reach that target slowly. I can't stress how important it is to be careful if you have never tried that, because I've been to gyms and seen 60 year old men keel over because they try to push their heart rate like a 30 year old.

DON'T CONCENTRATE ON WEIGHT, you need to use measurements as your guide, muscle weighs more than fat if you're weight training you may be gaining muscle. You are more likely to be putting weight on by eating carbs late in the day than eating sugar, don't eat any carbs after 6pm, but make sure you eat enough during the day to give you the energy needed to do that much exercise.
