I was thinking as I was reading Jonah, that we wait till we are in the belly of the fish to cry out to God. That he had weeds of confusion wrapped around his head. Have you ever been there?

I've been there dozens of times. I've come to understand it as evidence of the weakness of our human nature. GOD allows difficult circumstances to encourage us to stay focused on Him. He wants us to remember He is our maker, and our sustenance. He wants us to live for His purpose, and that only.
