Hmm. You need a mild degreaser. Try pouring a little dishwashing detergent (Sunlight is good) on the stain; rub gently, then soak in warm water and wash as usual. You may need to repeat to get rid of all of the stain on the jeans. The shirt may need more gentle handling, so soaking and hand washing may be in order. Good luck.
(I take it you didn't yell at the poor girl, which is a point in your favor as such accidents will happen when things are busy.)

If you don't already have a stain remover like a Tide Pencil or Shout spray, you can make a concentrated paste with your regular detergent. If you use a liquid detergent, just pour a small amount directly to the stained area and scrub it in with a small utility brush or a firm tooth brush. If it is a powder, add a small amount of water to from a paste and scrub into the stain. Let it sit on stained area a few minutes and add to the rest of your wash. If necessary you can repeat this again if the 1st application does not completely remove the stain.

I use a product called Awesome that I buy for a dollar at the Dollar General stores. It is super on greasy stains, soy sauce, etc. Read the bottle, it is a miracle what it can do! Good luck! I think the minimalism is great!

For the grease buy some Goop hand cleaner and apply that to the butter stains then wash the clothes (but not together). I guarantee you it will work the first time.

Spray & wash. If that doesn't work boiling water reactivates the stain, then scrub away.
