Yes, both me and my hubby take Venlafaxine and we are doing fine.

I take max dose also, hubby 150mg. Hubbys depression became severe to the point of him being unable to work and so he felt he needed to get to the root of his mental state. He went to counselling and this, combined with the medication, is what has seen him make such a vast improvement to his mental balance! There isn't any major root cause for mine, just bad shi* happening all the time but I think that because I haven't been through counselling it isn't as easy for me to talk myself out of feeling down in the dumps. Hubby can usually talk me round using his knowledge of how my brain works!

The main thing that worries me is coming off them! Now it isn't because I think "Oh God I am gonna get depressed again!" not at all. It is because, if I have accidentally missed taking my tabs in the morning, by around mid-afternoon, I start to experience physical side effects such as dizziness, vertigo-like attacks and slight pins and needles sensations in my hands! Someone told me that they had to take a fortnight off work to cope with the physical demands of coming off! What the heck - I'll stay on 'em for ever!! LOL!!

Yes. I'm taking 225mg. It has turned my life around, but I do get relapses.

If yours are bad, try going to your doctor and ask about adding something to it - there are lots of augmentation therapies, from Lithium to Omega-3, most of which work as mood stabilisers.
