In addition to reading all you can about the subject (without getting obsessive) here are a few tips
1. Avoid Empty Calories - junk food -won't fill you up & you'll get fat.
2. Avoid Aspartame - it will make you crave sugars
3. Use Mustard & hot sauce- adds plenty of flavor, low calorie
4. Craving ice cream? Have frozen juice pops instead. They have plenty of vitamin C and low in calories
5. Never Shop on an Empty Stomach - You'll buy too much food.
6. Keep Your Home Junk Food Free - avoid temption - if you don't have it, you can't eat it.
7. Eat Breakfast - it stops you from eating too much later on in the day.
8. Eat Before 8pm - you'll burn it off
9. Avoid frying - it will add tons of extra calories
10. Buy Smaller Plates - Illusion- you'll actually eat less without feeling deprived.
11. Drink water, water & more water

My advice would be to read everyhting you can on the topic. Look in magazines, internet, etc. Try weight watchers, control portion size, find fitness activities you like such as swimming, walking, biking, etc. Save a dollar a day to eventually join a gym or weightloss group. Also, losing gradual long-term weight is better than dramatic short-term weight. The pounds you lose gradually will stay off. If you try radical super restrictive diets the weight is more likely to come back. Opt for whole grain vs. refined grain. mix it up.
P.S. if you go to McDonalds chose healthy options such as fruit and yogurt parfait or griulled chix, etc. Try a BK veggie burger w/out the fries.

My Dr. told me to STOP drinking any soda especially diet and to start drinking green tea ( I now drink the Arizona green tea in the green can, not the diet version) I also started eating oatmeal almost everyday for breakfast and I have lost almost 16 lbs so far, I need to excercise, but have not started yet, Good Luck =)

mcdonalds is ok every once in a while but try eating sometingh better like sandwiches or something that you like but that is good for you and low in fat and sugars. eat when you are hungry not when you are bored and eating should be something you do all by its self... that means no tv. and try to take your time when you eat don't rush.. and the best thing you can do is exercise.. you have probably heard this before but it really works.

Skip the fast foods. Eating a balanced vegetarian diet can help you lose weight. Talk to a dietician or your doctor. They can really help!
