Can any Mormons (or others) produce any historical proof to support the claim that in the early centuries, the Church was Mormon?

We never claim that the church is Mormon. The Church was, is and always will be Christ's Church.

However, if you would like proof that the two are the same, read the bible. You will find what I found. Do a serious study of the church structure, priesthood organization (prophets, apostles, seventy in Ephesians), continual revelation through a prophet (Amos 3:7), temples (in both the old and new testaments), missionary program (all Gospels and throughout the New Testament), doctrines (necessity of baptism, gift of the Holy Ghost, salvation through the Atonement of Christ), etc...

That said, God has promised that those who lack wisdom should ask him (James 1:5). Try it out, he will led you.

Even atheist archaeologists use the Bible to look at what happened in the old world.
Not even Mormon archaeologists use the Book of Mormon to look at what has happened in the new world. There are too many discrepancies and the time frames for certain civilizations just don't fit!

There is historical proof that Joseph Smith and his family dug holes in people's backyards looking for "treasure." The community filed a complaint against him at the courthouse. It exists today.

The Christian church worships Jesus Christ as God. The Mormons do not.

Although the Christian faith is not based purely on evidence, it is definitely supported by evidence. Faith is not about turning off the brain and merely relying on the heart, or squashing reason in favor of emotion. No, Christian faith is about seeking and knowing Jesus Christ with all facets of the human character. It’s about loving Him with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.
