Oh my goodness, where do I begin? Well, first off, Halloween was actually brought over to us from the Celtic peoples. They called it "Samhain" (sow in) in those times. The English church dropped the ball on this issue when they started allowing these people to come in and make sacrifices IN THE CHURCH!!!! Not only ritualistic sacrifices of animals, but HUMANS as well. We are not supposed to compromise as Christians. If you believe the way that God wants you to believe, you would definitely not feel compelled to celebrate this "helladay". It is a day that darkness and evil are celebrated. Let me just ask...if it's so right to celebrate Halloween, do you think Jesus would take part in it? Do you think there are going to be goulish decorations in heaven? Will there be children running around in scary masks? If you don't think heaven would be this way, then why compromise and celebrate it on earth? I am a Christian and I go to a non denominational church. I'm sure there are people in my church that do in fact celebrate this day. My relationship with God tells me that it's not alright. It's a pagan holiday. I'm sure the devil delights in the fact and idea that people that claim to be Christians are laying down their beliefs for one evening with him.

I'm also Catholic, & like you, I've also always celebrated it & put on decorations, & I even put on my witch's costume every year, when I give out the candies.

Those Christians who think Halloween is pagan and/or satanic are really ignorant of the holiday. In actual fact, Halloween is Christian. The next day after Halloween is All Saints Day, & the day after that is All Souls Day.

I also was raised Catholic and I always celebrated Halloween. I never thought of it as demonic or evil, I just thought it was a fun day dressing up and getting candy.
My friend is a born again Christian (Baptist) and she feels that Halloween is a day that celebrates Satan.

I think parts of it are bad. The witches, goblins, evil costumes, ect. aren't good and I don't want any part of it. We always put a Christian twist on Halloween. We go to the Halloween celebrations at church, carve the word "Jesus" in a pumpkin instead of a scary face, and hand out candy to trick-or-treaters along with an activity book with a Christian theme to it.

I was raised Catholic too. I am a hairdresser so I talk to a lot of people. I hate to put people into categories but I have found that the people that go to non-dnominational "Christian" chuches say that it is evil. If you go to the woods and practice witchcraft ok, but dressing up and saying boo..........Please!
Happy halloween!

I was raised Catholic as well We always celebrated Halloween... costumes, Trick Or Treating, carving Jack O Lanturns... I think it's the fundamentalist, ultra conservative Christians who think Halloween is "the devil".

I don't. I'm Catholic and I love halloween. I dress up and throw a party every year. As for which christians don't like it, that's a personal choice. I know one lady in my church who thinks everything is a sin (like yoga and kneeling on the wrong leg), while others like me don't care.

Its been part of thehristian religion for more than 1500 years to dress up as ghosts and evil spirits to ward them off on the eve of all saints day, since it was thought that it was the only time satan could send his minions to collect souls. I like it, its much saner than now where people think satan is behind every bush and around every corner just waiting to catch them doing something fun.
