Well, my heart's broken. I am in love with this guy, we have been together a while and, believe me, love like this is hard to find. It was love at first sight from the beginning, and is till this day. The problem is my parents dont approve of our relationship. It's a cultural thing. I tried so hard, and I'm hurting everyone. The guy I entend to marry, he just doesnt understand why, and I've tried explaining it to him, but I understand why he's so sad. My parents think I've "betrayed" them. I just hate myself. They don't want me seeing him, and I haven't told him that yet. I can't get the courage to do so, I love him with all my heart. I have been crying for days now, I've actually lost 3 lbs in the last week - I'm seriously dying inside. I can't sleep at night, I can't focus. I actually wished I never was born or just died so I didnt have to go through this. No one understands me. Cultural differences and conservative values have broken me.....

Wow. That sounds like its pretty rough...the only advice I would have is to be TRUE to yourself--no matter the cost. I appreciate the cultural difference and values point of view/dilemma...but if it is seriously going to put a complete stop to your life is it really all worth it?

You have to remember one thing: You only get one chance at this life---so why waste it basing your decisions on other peoples points of views, comments, etc?

First off explain to him how much you hurt---and why. That is a true test to see if he truly loves you (how well he listens, etc..)

I know you can get through it--but it will be hard....just give it your best shot.

Parents always want what's best for their children and nobody knows you better than they do, since they raised you. All these people that are saying 'love conquers all' or whatever have probably had a series of broken relationships anyway. Just look at the statistics of marriage in this country.
If you feel strongly about something then honesty is very important, both with the parents and the boyfriend.

How weird, this is off topic, but I read a question on here a guy was talking about the same exact thing, I feel really bad for him. But anyway, follow your heart, eventhough you're parents don't like it, love who you want, or you'll just keep hurting yourself. Don't let it happen anymore, go and do what you want. If it makes you happy.

Good luck

Love is the answer to everything. All you ever need is love,
communication and understanding. That's what I figured out so
far. If you are down, you need to get up and start doing something with
your life. Don't need to be shy, be straight forward and allways say what
you want and expect from the others.
